Hello everyone.
I have used CC as a way to get a lot of amazing, unbiased information about college. I just made an account today because I needed to ask you guys a question that has been on my mind. I am an above average student with As and Bs. Sophomore year I took AP Bio and APUSH- got 4s on both. Currently I have a 31 on my ACT (only taken it once;target score 33) and I have yet to take the SAT. This year I am taking AP Psych, AP Calc AB, AP Chem, and AP Language and Composition. I got all A’s first quarter, but this quarter I am on track to get a C on Calc! This has never happened in my life, the lowest grade on my transcript as of now is a B+ which is a 90% at my school. My unweighted GPA is somewhere around a 3.8, and weighted is 4.02. I wanted to know what my chances are for getting into selective schools now, such as Northwestern, JHU, UC Berkeley, UChicago, etc. On top of my academic performance my extracurricular are extremely strong in my humble opinion.
I have gone to the Intel International Science Fair and presented research twice now, landing 4th place both times.
I placed second at the Ohio Junior Science and Humanities Symposium, and competed at the National JSHS.
I am a ‘Melvin Scholar’ meaning that this January I get to present my research at the American Junior Academy of Science (Published of Science Magazine)
I am an honorary member of the Ohio Academy of Science and have presented my research at their seminars 2 times.
I started a shoe drive which has since collected over 1,000 pairs of shoes, and have raised over 750$ to travel to Costa Rica and distribute these shoes to underprivileged kids for my senior capstone project.
I have played varsity basketball for three years (and counting) and have a varsity letter.
I am the event planner of my local Kiwanis club and I compete on the In the Know team (state-wide trivia competition)
I am an inducted member of the National Honors Society.
I have given a TED Talk on my research, and have been doing research at the Ohio State University.
I have a number of other smaller research-related accolades that I probably shouldn’t mention for you guys’ sake lol.
Please let me know what you think about my chances. I am really worried about that C, and I want to have a realistic expectation about my chances of getting into schools on my list so that I know where to smartly apply and not waste money on application fees and things of that nature. Also I hope this is in the right forum, this is my first time joining one so sorry in advance!
