I am currently awaiting my college admissions anxiously and hoping for the best. So far I have been accepted to UC San Diego and I am waiting for replies from UCLA and UC Berkeley, but Berkeley is my dream school. My GPA is a 3.51 and SAT Score of 2070.
I am considered a musical prodigy and sent in video recordings of my performances to UC Berkeley, hoping it would enhance my application. Here is a video of me when I was 10 years old just for the proof: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPVvW4MxmKs and here is me again at age 17: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozb4J_UpwBk
I personally believe my personal statements connect very deeply with my passions with music and my personal identity, as well as with the difficult situations I faced as a child. I also mentioned in my essay that I study piano with a professor at Rutgers University in New Jersey.
I have also listed a couple awards, including receiving Senior of the Month (for demonstrating leadership and character) at my high school and being President of Key Club and the Ecology Club, and being pianist for every honor society induction ceremony at my school. I also play varsity tennis and take all honors and AP Classes.
I also sent in a recommendation letter from the school principal along with a couple others.
What do you guys think are my chances of being accepted to UC Berkeley??
GPA a bit on the low side, but SAT is good. I am currently a freshman who was accepted with a low GPA and good SAT’s, so I was kind of in the same boat.
It is great that you emphasized your passion for music in your personal statements and in your EC’s. I’m currently a student ambassador for the OUA, and I can tell you that the readers really do love demonstrated passion.
However, OUA advises not to send in any supplemental material that they do not ask for (recs, videos, etc), so your videos were probably ignored.
I feel like you have a good chance overall. Best of luck to you, man.
Thank you so much! Could I ask what OUA is, though?

Sorry a little off topic, but does anyone here know how impacted the Film department at UC Berkely is? I applied for this Fall semester and I wanted to know how impacted it is. I am a transfer student thanks
unfortunately berkeley is rather objective in their scores
while your gpa is on the low end your sat is 20 ? above the average(2050 i believe)
which college did you apply to?
engineering would be near impossible
but L&S you’ve got as good as a chance as the average applicant
