Hi everyone! I have been stressing so much about school lately and I just wanted to hear people’s opinions about my chances of getting into my dream school, UC Davis or any other UC. I will be the first one to go to college in my family, which makes me very proud. I am Mexican American and I actually live here in Davis. I’m a junior in high school currently, so I will be applying to college this upcoming fall. My GPA right now is at a 4.105.
My classes as a sophomore: English 10 Honors, Algebra 2, Chemistry, World Civ, Dance, Drawing and Painting, and Spanish 5 AP.
Junior year: American Lit Honors, Trig, Physics, U.S. History Race and Social Justice, Photography, Psychology, and Spanish 6 AP.
Classes I requested for this following year: AP Biology, AP English Literature and Composition, AP government & Economics, Physiology and Anatomy, PreCalc, and Peer Tutoring at an elementary school.
I haven’t done any sports these last few years because I’m not athletic at all haha but I volunteer a lot! I’ve been volunteering at my local library for three years. Also at a center here in town, which focuses on helping the community. I’ve been volunteering there for almost a year and I’m going to start officially working there, starting in July. And I’ve been volunteering at a homework club at an elementary for a year and I’m going to continue for this following summer and school year. And hopefully (fingers crossed) I’m going to start volunteering at a hospital this summer.
I’m also going on a trip this summer to Dominican Republic to help the most needed communities. We are going to be giving english tutoring and conducting projects to improve the community. (Ex. Building houses, stores, etc.)
I’m only in one club at school: CSF, but I was in Key Club last semester.
I don’t know what else to essay… Anyway, I’m going to be talking about in my personal statement about the trip that I will be going in and the challenges I have gone through. For example, learning english as a second language. I had many speech and hearing problems and I wasn’t able to speak correctly until fourth grade. How my mother has influenced me and has been motivating me all my life. And more :)…
Pleaseeee helpppp Thanks everyone
SAT/ACT scores? GPA is competitive and you look like a good applicant. Work on your UC essays this summer and aim for at least a 1900+/28+ for your SAT/ACT test scores. You are a little light on the AP classes but if your school does not offer many, it will not be detrimental.
I’m taking it this Saturday
