I’m currently a junior and I have taken the ACT and gotten a 24 but I didn’t study so I plan to do better. Currently, my GPA is a 3.4 unweighted and a 3.61 weighted, which isn’t extremely good but I’m hoping that I can still get into UC Riverside. I am from Alabama and I received my Gold Award by creating an entire website dedicated to the conservation of endangered species as well as creating ProjectAmur, which strives to help conservation efforts. I have many more extracurricular but based on those alone, what are mu chances of getting into UC Riverside majoring in either chemistry or political science?
UC Riverside’s acceptance rate for the last few years seems to be constantly changing, but it generally seems between 50-60%(so they accept majority of applicants). This works in you favor, but you scores are a bit lower than their average admission scores(avg GPA: 3.7-3.9, SAT:1250-1260(Your ACT score converts to 1160-1190). As a state school grades and test scores matter a lot, so I think you should work on improving both of them. You should also try to take some Honor/AP classes your senior year, since it let’s the admission counselors now that you are prepared for college-level classes.
Honestly if you can get you weighted Gpa to 3.7 and improve your ACT to at least 26, I think you have a high chance of getting in.
Hope this helped! Good Luck!
Can you afford the full out-of-state list price without financial aid?
With student loans and outside scholarships that I have received.
Thank you so much!

UC’s are need-blind so the ability to pay or not pay does not factor into their decisions however as an OOS applicant, they know you will be pretty close to full pay if accepted.
Why UCR at $65K/year when there are plenty of other good universities which would be at a much lower cost?
