Yeah Yeah, I’m asking the same question that thousands of highschool juniors ask every year.
Anyway for the fun of it lets see what you guys think.
So I’m from an overly competitive highschool, where pretty much all of the kids don’t sleep and take upwards of 14 AP classes. We are also on the quarter system to make things worse.
So unlike my peers I am not perfect:
I have 6 B’s to date, (2 every year)
But also 11 AP classes (and 4 more next year) and my classes have been getting harder every year.
Freshman Year:
AP Comsci (5)
Sophomore Year:
AP Chem (3)
AP Calc AB (5)
AP Physics B (5)
AP Euro (4)
Junior Year:
AP Physics C Mechanics (5)
AP Physics C E/M (3)
AP Art History (4)
AP Environmental Science (4)
AP US History (5)
AP Calc BC (5)
So my GPA is 4.4 weighted and 3.8 unweighted
SAT: 800 Math, 770 Reading, (720 Writing)
SAT II: 770 Physics, 770 Math, 740 Chem
My Letter of Recs will probably be good, but not amazing.
The teachers that I have chosen clearly liked me, and I did well in their classes.
But I doubt It will anything extraordinary will be said about me.
So by reading this far into this lengthy post you are thinking that I am on those kids who don’t really appreciate learning and try to game the system by cramming AP classes just to GPA inflate with the hopes of getting into a top tier school.
But I really do care about learning, which why I have taken advanced classes in every subject and my ECs are mostly all about encouraging STEM learning and education in general.
ECs:
4 year of coaching Middle School Students in Science Olympiad
2 years of doing Science Shows for Elementary Schools
3 years of Academic League
6 soon to be 7 years of Science Olympiad, (Since 6th grade)
1 year of Cyber Security
I will be starting an official film club this fall, but since freshman year I have organized an unofficial film club with some friends.
Interests:
I am kinda of one of those generic kids who grew up with computers and have been fascinated every since.
I am a developer, and am fluent in Java, html, CSS, ruby etc
But I also like history, art, and the humanities just as much. (not a huge fan of writing though)
As you might have guessed, I like science, but I don’t feel as passionate about it as I used to.
Film is also another major interest of mine. I love Nolan films quite a lot.
And I do have a lot more stuff that I certainly am interested in, but don’t want to bore you guys any more.
I plan to apply EA, and would be very grateful for any advice you wise souls can impart on me.
