I think your chances are probably better than average. I know both of those schools are nightmares to get into for out of state residents, but internally I think they’re much easier (I heard somewhere that state schools sometimes require about 2/3 of their student body to be in-state).

That being said, there’s really no “knowing” with these schools. If you did the best you could on your app, now it’s just up to the school to decide if you’re the right fit. If you don’t get in, then maybe they don’t deserve you anyway. I know many schools would probably kill to get you as a student.

One thing I’ve heard many times (although I’m not sure how true this is): UCB puts a lot of weight on community service. I’ve heard it’s up in the top tiers of what they look for, right behind GPA and SAT/ACT scores. I also know UCB puts a lot of weight on diversity. Here’s a site you might find interesting:

Moderate I believe as those are good schools. I don’t see much EC related to major which IDK will help or hurt.

Its nice to see another student from Humboldt. Your GPA is a bit low; what’s your SAT score? Your volunteer hours are impressive and you’ve got decent EC’s. If you have a good SAT score then you should have a decent chance of success at UCSC and UCSB, but UCB and UCLA will be reaches due to your GPA.

I didn’t take my SAT

@ConfusedStudent: OP is a transfer student and SAT scores are not required.

OP: You are a competitive applicant but the top UC’s are always tough. Best of luck.
