What are my chances of getting into UCLA?

Here are all of my stats:

4.6 State college GPA
2070 SAT
30 ACT
350+ hours community service at hospital
4 years Basketball
1 year Football
120+ hours work experience
Bioscience Academy (Medical/Biotechnology program)
4 on AP English (11th grade), US History, Calculus AB, and Calculus BC
Enrolled in AP Biology, AP English, and AP Government next year

What do you think my chances are of being accepted into UCLA for the Fall 2007 semester?

jjcucla89:

Assuming you are a California resident,

state college GPA? i'm assuming you mean high school weighted GPA, right?

if so,
UCLA: match

State college GPA doesnt count like P.E. as a class under your gpa, but yes it is weighted

not to be mean but w/ the 8 semester cap on honors courses, there is no way you can get a 4.6 UC GPA unless your like taking 4 classes per school year, which i assume you aren't

I am not taking 4 classes a year, but getting a 4.6 is possible.... why would I lie about that if I am interested in serious feedback? UC GPA weighted only counts academic classes, that is how I got a 4.6.....

no patwu is not saying that you're lying, just that only 8 semesters of all your honors/ap classes will give you an extra point, so even if you took like 20, you wont get the extra point for 12 of the classes

and UC's also cap your gpa at 4.5 too, but not like it makes you look any worse or anything

you have a very good shot at making it in. i'm also wondering about ur 4.6 gpa and how that's even possible with only 8 semesters of weighted courses? Anyways gl.

What do you all mean by 8 semesters of weighted courses?? My school has an online grading system that I am able to check, and it shows my State College Weighted GPA as 4.61.

you can only convert 8 semesters worth of honors courses for the UC gpa. Your UC gpa only represents ur 10th and 11th grade coursework. Therefore, 8 semesters in ur 10th and 11th grade may be converted as long as they are recognized by the UC system as Honors. Any additional honors recognized courses u may take don't get converted and remain graded on an unweighted scale.

i'm still confused about the "state college weighted GPA."

can someone clarify what that is for me?

jjcucla89, i have a feeling your UC GPA is not the same as your state college weighted GPA.
