Also do UC care that much about your parents and siblings background such as which colleges they went to. I have been told that if your siblings and parents also went to UCs you have a better chance of getting into one, but I may be wrong.

P.S Dont know if they care about PSAT but I took it in Junior Year and got 191

Do you live in CA? Because that really makes a difference. Berkeley or UCLA would be more of a reach for you, but UCSD, Davis, UCSB, Irvine would be more on target.

Hey Shibykin, looking at your SAT(s) and GPA its going to be tough to get into Davis and Irvine the average high school GPA for those schools is 4.0 and SAT scores in the upper 1900s and lower 2000s. With a 3.4 GPA schools such as Riverside, and Merced are more in your reach. Your SAT score is above the average for Santa Cruz, but your GPA is .3 below the average. Also, the UC program does not look at legacy, so it does not matter if your parents attended a UC or not, everyone is given an equal chance. If you are the first person in your family to attend college, the UCs will give you some leeway. Hopefully I could help clarify your questions?

Yea I’m not the first one to go to UCs but my school is a very competitive school (had 50 ppl go to Berkeley this year those smart butts <.<). But Hopefully I can make a very good essay I have already written some drafts. Our school didnt offer AP World Hist./Euro and AP Gov/Econ so I have to take the regular one (World History, Gov/Econ). If I can pull my SAT I score up to maybe 2000 and my Chem to at least the 700s, maybe i’ll have a better chance at Davis and Irvine. Also sort of off topic should taking ap physics increase my chance into Davis or Irvine? I have no “hard” sciences (didn’t do any AP sciences), and I’m scared colleges would think I’m a slacker by having an “easy schedule”.

Ooops didn’t know my thread was still alive sry for bumping 2 weeks later
Yes my high school is very competitive we’re ranked top 60 in the whole Nation, I heard school ranking for our high school is gone now :P. 1/2 the graduating class goes to UC so uhh I think thats good and we have around 500-600 people per graduating class.
Update got 4 on both AP Stats and AP Psych
I think Davis is a huge stretch for me -.-.
Any out of State schools that I should consider and have good chance of getting in?

Thanks for the feedbacks :). I went to a free college consultations of what colleges I should get in. UCSB UCD and UCI r gonna be really hard unless i score 2000+ on SAT I and 700+ on both SAT II, which I think I should be able to do :). I was also told I should apply to Pepperline and SMU and Boston College. Any1 know my chances of those. My family is paying for my tuition so money isn’t the issue I think :P

the average gpa for UCD, UCI and UCSB is right around 3.7, not 4.0. also, the SATs are 1800s, not 2000s. if you go to the “rank the UCs” thread, there are many posts that show the average GPA and SAT of seach UC accurately

well… i would just say to work on both SAT i and II’s. You’re gpa looks bad numerically, but it isn’t terrible since you had nothing lower than B- (i think)
If you work hard on senior year and on your essays you have a shot at UCD and UCI.

not sure on this, but i think boston college isn’t ultra competitive and you might be ok.
out of curiosity, do you go to msj?

Thanks for more feedback XD. Yea my GPA sux numerically, but 1st semester Jr year sucked cuz I was suffering so bad at Stats my only C in my report card ever. but 2nd semester i skyrocketed to A- and i got a 4 on the AP stats exam so at least colleges will see I improved :). I think colleges would be suprised a 2.8 jump to 3.6 :P. I have no real excuse that my gpa sucked 2nd semester soph and 1st semester jr other than I had to visit my grandma every weekend, because she had a horrible health condition.
My GPA is kinda sucky which means i need good SAT’s and SAT II -.-. If i get into any mid tier UC i’m automatically going to go there XD. Any more feedbacks :).
BTW sorry for big long post, but is Pepperdine easier to get into than UCD UCI UCSB, if it helps I am Christian lol and I did do 30 hours of community service in there. Not really a good one since I’m so lazy to get up and go -.- sometimes

I heard Pepperdine cares alot about character and since I’m azn and that school is mostly white, they would more variety so I think I have easier chance? I’m gonna mention about my grandpas death and how he got baptised a day b4 he died as my essay for Pepperdine(I always spell it wrong, and I noticed its spelled almost like that Snoopy girl character Peppermint I think). BTW for CSU and Private do you still turn in SAT II scores even if they dont require it?
BTW not gonna complain about anything or being mean but the past few posts left out UCSC in their opinion on my chances XD just observant.
