Hello! I’m currently a junior in high school and getting into UCSB is my goal next year. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
GRADES
As for grades, I currently have a 3.8 UC GPA, however this is solely based on sophomore year as of now. My total academic GPA is only a 3.65 (I messed around freshman year and got a lot of B’s I shouldn’t have), but since it is to my understanding that UC’s don’t take freshman year grades into much account I’m not too worried about this. The rigor of my classes is decently tough, but not excruciatingly difficult. After this year, I’ll most probably have around a 4.2 GPA and I’ll take at least 4 APs next year.
SAT/ACT
As for my standardized test scores, my ACT is currently at a 30 but I plan for that to jump to a 32 at the least before I apply to colleges (I’m only a junior!). I don’t plan on taking the SAT Reasoning Test, but I will take at least 3 subject tests which I’ll probably perform well on (750+).
EXTRACURRICULARS
As for extracurriculars I am an Eagle Scout, the captain of my school’s speech and debate team, a member of National Honors Society (and I’ll attain a leadership position in it this year), I played piano until this year and attained Certificate of Merit level 5, I volunteer weekly at Marshall Medical Center and through various other organizations and undoubtedly have over 100 hours currently, and I will join the tennis team this year (I’ll just be an average player). I’m a member of several other clubs but the ones I have listed above are the only prominent ones that I spend time with.
BACKGROUND
As for my environment, my ethnicity is Asian Indian and I come from a decent socioeconomic background. I reside in a middle class - wealthy area and attend a public school. I come from a middle class family and have a good learning environment. I live in California so I’ll be applying in state.
MAJOR
Regarding my major, I am currently undecided but am considering both computer science and something in business. I understand that computer science is quite difficult to get into so if I end up choosing that I may apply undecided. Regardless, I may apply undecided anyway because I’m so ambivalent about my major.
Hope that gives a good profile of me. Thanks again for your time.
