What are my chances of getting into UCSB

Hi everyone,

I’m a california (in state) student, and currently a junior at a College Prep High School. I have a 3.9 W GPA and 3.5ish UW GPA. I tried finding my UC GPA and it looks like it’s around 3.7 assuming I keep my current grades for junior year second semester. So far I have taken 5 honors classes and 2 IB classes, and next year I will take 3 AP and 1 IB class. My school is tough, and I have taken some pretty tough classes, so hopefully that makes up for the lowish GPA.
I took the ACT for the first time and got a 32 (35 English, 33 Math, 33 Reading, 27 Science) and I am considering taking it again to try to raise it to a 33 or a 34.
EC: I played baseball and football freshman year, lacrosse sophomore and junior year (though I don’t plan on playing sports senior year), I have had a job at a 5 star restaurant for 6 months and I plan on keeping it through senior year. I have been a part of a couple of clubs, am a part of NHS, and I have a couple hundred service hours (from 7th grade through now) through a volunteering group. I also am a servant leader at my Church.

How are my chances at UCSB (it’s my number one)? And also how are my chances for UCLA and USC (I’m guessing reach, but I don’t really know)

PS I don’t really know my intended major, but it’s probably either business, economics, or psychology

Thanks!

Sorry, I made a mistake. So far I have taken 7 honors classes my freshman and sophomore year. I’m not sure how much of a difference it will make to my GPA because UC schools don’t recognize any of them as honors classes and give them and extra point to my UC GPA but I figured I’d add this information.

In the same boat of you in terms of UC Gpa, although I have a 36 ACT and I live in Tenn. I think you’re helped out a lot by being in state but our GPA’s our quite low for their standards (although ACT is above avg)

UC’s are very GPA focused but UCSB puts 50% emphasis on GPA/Test scores/HS course rigor and 50% on Essays/EC’s for their application review. GPA is a bit low with the average UC GPA being 4.05. I think it is worth your time to apply, but remember as an OOS applicant, you will be paying full fees at around $55K+/year since UC’s no longer give FA to OOS students. Intended major will also be a factor in the admission review.

USC likes high test scores but you also need a competitive UW GPA of 3.8+ for a good chance. UCLA would be a slight Reach based on GPA.

i didn’t know what bump means so I looked it up lol
but I was hoping for some more feedback so [bump]
How are my chances for UCSB, UCLA, and UCB? Also super random, but what about Boston College?
