What are my chances of getting into UCSD?

Current high school GPA: 3.92
Highest SAT score is a 1790 and my highest ACT score is a 25.

I also plan on taking the Mathematics Level 2 and Literature SAT Subject Tests on December, and I have passed 2 AP tests and will take 4 more this year.

I have taken 13 Honors/AP courses, while 9 of them are weighted classes.

My freshman GPAs: 3.83, 4.00.
My sophomore GPAs: 4.17, 3.50.
My junior GPAs: 4.17, 3.83.
I so far have straight A’s senior year, taking 5 classes, 4 of which are AP, so I am currently at a 4.80 this semester and hope to maintain it.

My major is Computer Science and Engineering (Computer Science). And my alternate major is Undeclared.

Additional Comments (Academic History):

I ended up with several B’s and two C’s during the second semester of my sophomore year and my junior year due to the circumstances which are addressed in my Personal Statement 2. Specifically, I got a C in Chemistry because I often had to miss days of school due to family emergencies, and my teacher didn’t allow me to make up three tests on the days I missed. Also, I got a C in AP Literature because I missed several deadlines for essays because I had often to stay in a hospital and was therefore deprived of time for the essays.

Overall, what are my chances of getting into UCSD?

Your GPA looks solid but your SAT score is about 300 points below average and ACT score is 5 points below average. Your EC’s are good but essays, no matter how good, cannot make up for low test scores. Any chance for a retake in December?

UCSD: Low Reach

I agree with @Gumbymom. My friend got in to UCSD with a 1600 on the SAT, but with a UC GPA around 4.1-4.3. Also, she was a captain of two sports team for all four year, had an internship at a hospital, and we live in the San Diego area. So, it just all depends on how they think of your EC’s and essays. They could make up for your scores, like they did for my friend.

@Gumbymom and @Dawg619 Thank you so much for the response! I greatly appreciate it.

Yes, I do plan on taking the ACT again on December, but I unfortunately cannot take the SAT again since I’m taking the SAT Subject Tests. I better study up for the ACT if I want to greaten my chances of getting in!

Hopefully, my EC’s and essays will make up for my scores, and I ultimately hope that with my Personal Statement 2, UCSD will understand why it is truly difficult for me to study with the circumstances my family and I face.

By the way, my UC GPA is about a 3.82, I believe. (That is my CSU GPA.) I hope to at least get into SDSU if I don’t get into UCSD, but I’m optimistic that I might get into UCSD!
