I am graduating with my AA after the summer term and want to transfer to UF for their Computer Science online program. My GPA is 4.0, ACT 33, but have almost no extracurricular due to working full time. I’m a non-traditional student at 30 years old.
My worry is that I have all of the prerequisites for admissions except for Calc III. The advisor said that they can consider my application without Calc III because of my perfect scores in my math classes up until this point, but it’s worrisome for me.
I can’t find anyone who has gone through the admissions process at UF Online and because the program is so new I’m having a hard time finding any statistics.
What do you guys think?
Well, as a regular AA transfer student, UF will consider you, even if you still need to take a class before being admitted. They assume you’re taking it the semester before entry into UF.
I would think Online works the same way, they may accept you in the fall, if you take Calc 3 over the summer. Contact UF admissions!
Thanks for the response!
I’ve been talking with admissions and have told them I won’t be able to take Calc III over the summer. In the summer I’m taking the last two classes needed for my AA.
My gut instinct is that you would have a very good shot at getting in to the online program. I don’t have any solid stats to base that on though. My son was dual enrolled as a high school student online; UF is on the forefront of virtual learning (imho). This past semester UF had an agreement with our county (Palm Beach) to pay for our son’s courses. It has been a very good experience for him.
It seems like UF is really working hard to get these online degrees going. You are the perfect profile for a non-traditional student pursuing a bachelors, and you have great stats at cc.
