What are my chances of getting into UNC Chapel Hill?

Hello. :)

UNC-CH is my dream college and has been for a long time now. My application is already in, so there's nothing I can change on there but I wanted to get some opinions on what you guys think my chances are of being accepted.

First of all, I applied as an in-state resident because my parents are living in NC. However, I am personally staying in SC to attend high school, so that complicates things I bit. I'm not sure if they will consider me a resident because we've only been living in NC since the 1st of August.

My class rank is 16 / 300. My unweighted GPA is 3.7, my weighted GPA is 4.2.

I have many extracurriculars, job experience, and volunteer experience.

The SATs are my biggest concern, honestly. I got a 710 on the writing portion and a 710 on the reading portion, but only a 590 on the math portion! Collegeboard says the median math score for UNC was 620..

So what do you guys think?

( Edit: Sorry.. This might be in the wrong section. I'm new. )

I would think that UNC will consider you an out of state applicant since you are living and attending a HS in SC. As you probably know, by state law UNC caps out of state students at 18% which makes the competition tougher. Good luck.

You should have a realistic shot if you are applying as an in-state student. However, as an out-of-state student it will be a sizable reach, because of the capped OOS students. Once you take away athletes, legacies, etc. the competition is going to get very, very competitive. I would certainly have some strong backups.

Best of luck though–just continue to work hard.
