What are my chances of getting into USC or BU?

I am a Junior...

Class Rank: 24/687
GPA: 3.83

Freshman Year:
Honors English, Honors Science, Honors Algebra

Sophomore Year:
Honors English, AP Euro, Honors Geometry, Chemistry

Junior Year:
AP English, Physics, AP US History, Algebra II

Prospective Senior Classes:
AP English, AP Gov, Precalc, AP Environmental Science

Extra curriculars:
525 hours of volunteer work
2 years of music
photo club
President and Founder of Badminton Club

I haven't gotten my SAT or SAT II scores back yet but my counselor said my PSAT scores would project a 1790 or higher.

Do you think I have a chance?

bump
:)
:)

I know you have good chances at BU if your SAT is not unlike your GPA (2000-2100, maybe even a little lower), but I don't know anything at USC.

P.S. - Actually, I'm REALLY hoping you have good chances at BU because we have very similar stats. Actually, we have almost the same schedule.

definitely a good shot at BU

You have a pretty good shot at BU.
USC- While your GPA is (if unweighted) totally set, your ECs aren't anything special really, but you have a lot of volunteer work, which is great. 1790 is pretty far below USC average, and you don't seem to have any sort of big hook to counteract that.
However, I bombed my PSAT and then did like 300 points better on the SAT, so hopefully you'll do really well.
Good luck!

If you can get 2000+ on the SAT, then your chances are much, much higher.

Thank you guys! I've been studying up a lot for the SATs and I don't think I tried my hardest on the PSATs so I really think I can do better than I did. What do you think I'd need in addition to higher SAT scores to get into USC?

I also forgot to mention:
I have done volunteer work for the Democratic Party
I live in Arizona
I am a first generation college student

I don't know if that counts for anything

Bump

again

did you really only take 3 classes freshman year?

good shot at BU, USC is more of a reach. Scores could help you out, but your EC's seem a little weak with not a lot of leadership

No I took 7, I just didn't think the others really mattered. The classes I didn't include were Business Technology, Jazz Band, Urban Hiking (a P.E. credit), and first year Spanish.

BU is almost a gurantee...
USC is a reach...but with like 2100...its very doable

With a 1790 & your stats now:
BU - High match
USC - Reach

Are there any ECs USC especially likes to see?

bump

bro.

bump

again?
More opinions please?
