Right now, your ACT is well in the bottom 25% and business is the flagship program. Your SATs are well below average as well.
The average ACT is a 30 at Villanova. You should still try but a school like Loyola Maryland is a better match.
Need to bring things up.
Took SAT twice
ACT once
Top 10% of class
Is Catholic school a priority?
I think your chances are good. Your standardized scores may be a relative weak point, but your 1220 still falls in Villanova’s middle range (1210-1400, USNWR). Good luck.
The middle range for the business school is 1360 - 1410. Villanova is not easy.
^ I do think you’ve made an important distinction between Villanova’s business school and their other programs, though that number is for admitted students. Bloomberg puts the average for attending students at the business school at 1325. I don’t doubt that the school is competitive though.
A Catholic school is not really important but I live really close by and I just LOVE the campus and surrounding community and it just happens to be Catholic. Thanks guys!
Would my chances increase greatly if I apply early action?
Villanova, for whatever reason, does not seem to be excessively enthusiastic regarding EA applications from its typical applicants. Their EA rate of acceptance, 42%, is actually lower than their overall rate, 49%.
However, your enthusiasm for the school may be something they pick up on either way – which is not an insignificant factor to have in your favor. That, combined with any increase in your SAT score, may be enough to carry the day.
What do you think my chances are at Fordham, American U, and U of Delaware?
Those look better but still not really ringing a lot of bells where you can be complacent because you want to major in business.
You should try them all.
BTW are you a PA or NJ resident?
I think as long as you get your test scores up, you should have a very good chance of admission
PA
Your SAT scores have a nice “look” to them – nothing below 600. This could help you. But more pertinently, all the colleges you are considering are entirely appropriate for you. Cautious optimism is warranted.
@merc81 “Cautious optimism is warranted”
I love that phrase!
