What are my chances of getting into Wellesley?

Hi there! I’m a junior, and I’ve recently fallen in love with Wellesley College. I was wondering if someone could take a look at at my stats and give me an idea of whether or not Wellesley would be interesting in accepting me. Unfortunately, my extracurriculars are rather weak.

Ethnicity: Chinese
Income Bracket: >100k
Intended Major: Biochemistry
SAT I: 2400
SAT II: Math II - 760 Chem- 780
APs - AP Calculus AB (5), AP Calc BC (5), AP Chem (5), AP Euro History (5)
Advanced classes this year: Multi-Variable Calc (Calc III), AP Biology, AP English Language
Advanced classes senior year: AP World History, Linear Algebra, AP Physics C, AP English Literature

Extracurriculars: Editor and artist of nationally-ranked high school newspaper, recognized by National Scholastic Press Association (10-12th grade), member of a science organization that goes to elementary and middle schools to “get kids excited” about STEM through “magic” (chemistry) shows and hands-on experiments, volunteer at local hospital, member of school’s Quizbowl team.

Hoping to join: Peer Counselling (this year) and get an internship over the summer and run experiments at my local university. (Fingers crossed I’ll get a lab space!!)

Thank you so much!

That all looks really good. I think you’re smart to get an internship this summer. Just make sure your application essays are solid and you should be fine.

Based on this you’re in! Assuming your GPA is very high as well. I don’t actually think your EC’s are weak if you can show depth. Could you write some articles or do some artwork for a “real” paper or something? Not that the school paper isn’t real–I mean reaching out beyond your immediate community with this most excellent activity would round it out as an EC. Getting all 5s on so many AP’s as a freshman or sophomore is really something. Keep up the good work and good luck!
