What are my chances of getting merit aid?

If anyone can help, I would love to know what my chances for merit aid are for:

  • UVermont
  • Northeastern
  • WashU in St. Louis
  • Lehigh

One of the highest GPAs in my class. I’m definitely top 10% and likely top 5%. SAT is 1560.

I’m not in-state for any of these schools.

Probably not for these schools, but you could always apply for a scholarship. Right now, TCU, Baylor, and Alabama would likely offer a full tuition scholarship. Check out SMU also.

Run the Net Price Calculator for UVM. You’ll definitely get some aid. Northeastern it really depends on geography (where you are from) and program to which you are applying. I don’t know much about the other schools.

It has been a few years, but when I ran the NPC for UVM it asked for information that would be needed to compute merit based aid (such as GPA and SAT scores) and it did correctly predict a merit based “presidential” scholarship. From what you wrote it looks likely that you might qualify for merit aid at UVM as well.

For us the NPC was also fully accurate at Northeastern, but not as encouraging.

My guess is that the NPCs are likely to be more accurate than any guesses that we can give you.

For UVM, you might be eligible for presidential or trustees scholarships. I think they ranged from $14-$18k last year. There was some discussion on the UVM acceptance thread last year, maybe compare your stats:

The discussion of merit awards begins around the end of pg 12 of that thread. Good luck!

It may depend on the major but you are likely a candidate for the OOS Presidential which is 15-18k I think (or was, I haven’t checked this years stats). The net price calculator on the UVM site should give you a ballpark. I have a sophomore there and his offer ended up being a bit higher than the calculator estimated.

Will you be an NMF Finalist?
