I’m doing things non-traditionally. To begin, I applied to UC Merced my senior year of high school and got in. So I enrolled, got my fees paid and had housing set up. Then a couple weeks before my first year at UC Merced, I got a letter telling me that I got dismissed from the school because I got a D+ in AP Calculus. It really sucks because that’s the first D I’ve ever gotten in my life and it cost me my admission. So I had no choice but to go to a community college. Then I found out I can go through the reinstatement process. I got a 4.0 GPA at the community college so it really proves that I am capable at UC Merced. They took my admission away before they had a chance to see how good of a student I am. Anyway, I submitted my reinstatement application and I was wondering what my chances are especially if I did things nontraditionally. Would they realize that I am a successful student and find a way to let me back to school even through the unconventional route? Thanks!

Perhaps semantics but, they didn’t ‘take a way’ your admission. You were granted admission if you met certain additional conditions. The biggie was, you have to pass your classes senior year. You didn’t meet the condition so, they gave your seat to someone else. This is your failing, not some off handed misjudgment or administrative oversight by UCM.

Now, as to your status - Since you were never really enrolled, I doubt they will readmit you. I imagine they will only consider you as a transfer because you spent attended a CC post high school. But - that’s conjecture on my part. The campus is still small and somewhat hungry for students.

Contact someone in admissions or student affairs - they are the ones to answer your question. Make an appointment and go there in person if at all possible.

Good luck.
