Hi guys – so not your typical ‘What are my chances?’ post, but I figure this category made most sense to post in (although I’d appreciate it if someone would redirect me to a better place to post).
I’m a second semester senior struggling with my BC Calculus class. I have a low C as of right now and that could very well drop to a D by tomorrow (we get our tests back and I didn’t feel great about the last one…). I think I can pull through the semester with at least some kind of C, given that I’ll have to put in a lot of effort, but even that makes me uneasy. My grades so far (the ones I applied to colleges with) showed B’s in my mathematics courses and A’s in everything else. I can most definitely finish with all A’s in my other classes, but will that one C or a D in BC Calc be enough for colleges to rescind any offers?
If it means anything, I’m shooting for a lot of big name schools like the Ivies, UChicago, Northwestern, Duke, etc. and I have applied to study either English or Psychology.
Another option I have is dropping BC Calc and going down a lane to AB Calc. In this arrangement, my grade would not be an issue (there is a BIG gap between difficulty levels at my school and I would only keep my homework grade if I dropped); however, I would have to notify all my colleges of the drop, which they may or may not approve. Could I also be potentially rescinded for dropping down, even if I’m an English/Psych major?
Thanks!
