I am a high school senior in Nevada with a 3.6 GPA unweighted and 4.5 weighted. I have taken 5 AP classes in high school already (am taking 3 more this year) and have passed three of them. My ACT composite score was a 25 and I plan on taking it again. I have only a PSAT score of 950 (crappy I know) and don’t think I have time to take the actual SAT (is this bad?). I am editor-in-chief of the yearbook and am an orchestra officer (secretary). Will these things help me get into SDSU even though I am coming from out-of-state and have no SAT score? SDSU is the school I would most like to get into, and I don’t think its too impractical.
SDSU accepts SAT or ACT scores. You need to calculate your CSU/UC GPA first. CSU’s require a specific number of a-g course requirements and your CSU GPA is based on the grades from these requirements for 10-11th grade.
SDSU is an impacted campus meaning there are more qualified applicants than spots available so it is a competitive school.
Since you are out of state, only AP/IB or DE courses taken 10-11th grade will be given extra honors points and these points are capped at 8 semesters. I like to use the Roger hub calculator: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Your CSU GPA will be the capped weighted UC GPA. After you calculate your CSU GPA, you then need to calculate your Eligibility index. You will be ranked by your EI and major. SDSU will then accept from the top down until all spots are filled.
Eligibility index for New SAT:
If you took the Redesigned SAT:
(CSU capped weighted GPA X 800) + (SAT Evidence Based Reading & Writing (EBRW) + Math Score) = Eligibility Index
Eligibility index for ACT:
(CSU capped weighted GPA X 200) + (ACT Composite x10)= Eligibility Index
An EI of 1050 for the ACT is competitive.
EC’s are not considered only GPA and test scores. Since you are OOS, are you aware that SDSU will not offer any financial aid and expects you to be full pay at $36-40K/year to attend if accepted?

I did the roger hub calculator (if I did it right) and I got a 3.95 weighted and capped gpa. I also looked at the course requirements and it looks like I’m on track. And yes, unfortunately I do realize how expensive it is and am planning to apply for as many scholarships and financial aid as possible. With all of this information do you think it is possible for me to get in? @Gumbymom
SDSU gives little merit aid and no need based financial aid to OOS students. It is a California public university and the best aid is given to in-state students which is mainly need based. I would run the Net price calculator for an estimate but figure on full fees.

Remember the best aid comes from the school.
You definitely have a chance at an acceptance. Bumping up your ACT would help. Intended major may make a difference also. Best of luck
