I'm currently a freshman moraine valley community college, I would like to transfer to a university for my spring semester. I'm having a hard time with calculus 1, but that's the only math I have to take I believe. I am taking bio 1 chem 2 and writing also. Would I be able to succeed in a university during the spring if i'm having a hard time with calculus?

I don't think I can handle university load because people make it sound like a cc is so much easier than university.

Depends on what you major in. If you want to do a math-heavy major like math, statistics, physics, computer science, engineering, or economics, then struggling in first semester calculus may not be a good sign. But if your major does not require as much math, then you may do fine if you are good at other subjects.

No, CC is not necessarily easier than any other 4 year universities. Some classes are, some are not. For instance, I found Econ is more in depth at my local CC than UC. In fact, my cc econ class have more readings and classwork/homework than back in UC. The workload depends on the teacher, not the name of school. But I only took few classes at CC, and the teachers are all 4.0+ rating. My experience on CC classes have been great, they are all on par and even better than my UC thanks to smaller classes. Again, I think this have to do with teachers, not the school.

Now I’m taking art history 102 at CC, am learning soo much. I have make over 200 flash cards for the midterm.

For calculus, the more you practice the better. If you have a good foundation on Algebra/ Trig you should be fine.

We actually go to the same cc!
Anyway, unless your major is going to involve a lot of math work, I don’t see the point of relating your math ability alone to whether you can do well in college. I’ve known some smart kids at Moraine who’re having trouble with Calc I as well, so it’s probably the course being challenging.
And as much as people may say a cc is inferior to a university, it’s not true that a cc course can’t hold a candle to a college-level course. It’s your attitude that counts.
So much for now - PM me if you need some more advice!
