Major: Computer Science default to Mathematics until prereqs completed
I intend to enter UW as a Mathematics major and attempt to re-declare as Computer Science after my sophomore year there. I would like to continue to continue from CS or mathematics to postbac schooling in Systems Engineering or Operations Research. What do you think my chances are transferring from USNA to UWS?
My main concern is the transfer from an OOS 4-year institution to a competitive program at UWS. I have in-state status, but would be worried that they would want people from local community colleges. Would you think they would take the Naval Academy’s strict schedule and curriculum into account for the lower GPA? Will they take the “prestige” of the Naval Academy name into account?
My personal statement and a petition for early decision are referenced below. Because their normal decision date for transfer students is July, they accepted my petition for early decision. Do you think this is a good sign?
