What are my chances of transferring from a CC if...

I get my AA degree but my GPA is only a 3.4-3.5? I'm currently a sophomore at Valencia Community College and my fall grades just came in...before this semester I had a 3.66 but I really messed up this semester and only made straight Bs, so my GPA took a dive and is now a 3.46 (I took 14 credits this semester, 3 classes). I'm sending in my application this week to the College of Engineering, my planned major is Materials Science and Engineering if I happen to get accepted. Out of my engineering pre-requisites, I still have Calc 3 and Physics 1 left (I'll be taking that over the Spring) and Diff Eq and Physics 2 left (I'll be doing those over the summer). I'm planning on applying for Fall 2010. Please chance me, I'm dying to go to UF and really worried I won't be accepted :(

I’m an MSE major at UF. Contact the advisors over at the MSE department. They’re great people and they might be able to help you out. I’m not sure if they can give you information regarding admissions at the transfer level, but there’s live help at [Materials Science and Engineering, University of Florida](http://mse.ufl.edu/) which is available during regular office hours and who knows, you might get some feedback. UF has been getting really selective with transfer students, so I wish you the best of luck!

The more prereqs you have completed on your transcript when they see it, the better. Me and my friend were Bio majors transferring, I had all my prereqs completed and he did not have a good 3-4 completed upon applying, he had the higher gpa but was denied and I got in, I think they really want to see how competent you are in the prereqs on paper, which is probably why my friend did not get in and I did. Bring that GPA up! I know it is easier to get into UF transferring from a CC versus a university, but it seems a lot of the kids accepted hover around 3.7 and up ranges, then again you are wanting to get into engineering and those classes can take their toll on one’s GPA. Apply anyway, they DO look at EC’s and when you write your transfer essay, make sure its awesome!
