I'm currently a full IB Diploma candidate. I'm a junior. First semester of junior year I believe my GPA was ~4.2. I have only taken one AP test so far and unfortunately scored a 2. I will be taking another AP US History test this week (I feel as though I will score a 3 on this one). I have taken 1 standard level IB test already and will finish my other 5 next year. I will have ran 4 years of cross country and track by the end of my senior year. Also, California is my current state. I have heard UC Davis is one of the easiest UC's to get into, but I have seen people in the full IB program get rejected (presumably because they didn't try that hard). anyone know if I have a pretty good chance of getting into UC Davis right now, or do I need to step up my GPA? Of course, studying for IB/AP tests is something I'm working on right now

UCD is not that easy…

UCD: Aim for 29+/2000+

UCD emphasizes grades, particularly GPA and SAT/ACT scores, despite what it claims. I can’t “chance” you with the minimal amount of information you’ve given. What other tests have you taken/will take? How did you do? Any good letters of recommendation? What will you major in? (This is a big one; several of the majors at UCD are impacted, i.e. Biology-related, Engineering, etc.)

You need to first calculate your UC/CSU GPA for 10th and 11th grade. Here is the link:<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;
Then you need to post your SAT and/or ACT scores along with your EC’s. UCD is a mid-tier UC and the average GPA was 4.07 and SAT of 1950 this year. Depending upon your major, especially Biology or Engineering as stated above, it could be higher to get into these programs. You need to take a rigorous class schedule your Senior year and maintain a good GPA. Two essays are also part of the application and you should spend your summer working on them to have a good chance. Letters of recommendation are not required for the initial application, but you may need them if you want to appeal a decision or are waitlisted. SAT II subjects are not required for UCD, but if you plan to apply to other UC’s, they are recommended by some. Good Luck.

Thanks. I’ll mention I got a 26 on the ACT (I know this is a very inadequate score for UC’s, thus I’m retaking it June 14 aiming for ~30 with all my studying for it) and I’m planning on majoring in Zoology. Also, using the GPA Calculator my GPA is 4.33

You have a 4.2-4.3 gpa and are only scoring a 2-3 on your ap tests ■■■

@davegaurd keep in mind I’ve only taken a single AP test (AP World History) thus far and will take another one on Wednesday (AP U.S. History). History is and has always been my weakest subject. My IB tests are where I will be strongest, which I will not even be able to take until senior year
