I'm going to be in my high school senior year this August, and as I looked at my GPA back in my freshman and sophomore year, they were terrible. The fact that I had 3 D+'s during my sophomore year implies that I was academically poor (at least I improved now). I'm not exactly the most stunningly intelligent guy in the class; most people got over a 3.5+ GPA and I was shocked, because at times my GPA didn't reach a 3. To be honest the highest GPA I achieved was a 3.1. However, during my junior year I tried my best and though I may have f***ed up during the first quarter (1 D+) I eradicated that malicious letter and lifted my GPA back up to a 3. Now I'm here, already graduating in the summer of '14, and I have a dream of becoming a commercial airline pilot, one day hope to become a captain, and take my parents on my flight and provide them a nice vacation.
Anyways, I'm thinking of applying to the following universities:

Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (Dayt. Beach)
Florida Tech
Vaughn College
New York Tech
Kansas State Univ
Saint Louis Univ
University of North Dakota
American University (DC)

I am visiting all except UND(can't due to shortage of time) this summer, and I want to know the estimated chances of being accepted in the mentioned colleges.

I am also a former amateur boxer, and though I participated in numerous exhibitions, I hold a despicable official record of 0-1. I am in Second Harvest and help serve food to the homeless at the soup kitchen, and also is a member of Habitat for Humanity which I travel overseas to build houses for the economically disadvantaged. I am also in a Capoeira training club. Also, I am in charge of a small workout club at school.

My first SAT score without studying was a 1420, and I am going to take another one in October, November and whenever, fully prepared.

My predicted IB score is, at the moment, 22-24 and I will raise it up as high as I can. (Min score required for an IB diploma is a 24)

So this is pretty much it... do you think I am qualified for the above universities?
Also, for someone like me who wants to become a pilot (medically risky), would it be a good idea to major in business, economics, pre-law, or anything that could be my "backup"? Because I want to become an airline pilot, and nothing else; if I can be one I am willing to do anything for it. I ideally would want to fly for All Nippon Airways or JAL (though JAL doesn't hire pilots atm) since I live in Japan, however if I do have an opportunity I would like to work at an airline in the states, australia, canada, or anywhere overseas.

Thank you for any insights on this matter, god bless you all.
