I am currently a high school junior, I have a 6.45 (out of a 7 point scale- 3.69 on a 4 point scale) GPA. My ACT score is a 25. I have swam on my high schools swim team since freshman year, and have held a captain position for two years. I am a girl scout and im working towards my Gold Award, and will have it finished in time to put it on my college applications. I am a member of the HOSA club at my school, and I have competed twice for a HOSA competition. And I am a member of NHS. What are my chances on getting into A&M for Nursing?

Hey! Your GPA is pretty good, but I think if you can bang out senior year and bring it up, it would be even better! Your ACT is on the lower side, but I think you have a pretty good leadership and extracurricular section(gold award and captain of the swim team is pretty cool). I would consider trying to take the ACT again, but that’s just me. Write a really good essay and show your passion (tying in HOSA and the Health Science Theory Class), and I think you will have a good shot. Just remember to not restate the fact that you are in HOSA and the HSTC class (because I’m guessing you will already be putting that under extracurriculars), but write about what you learned from those experiences and how that furthered your passion.
Good luck with your application…be open-minded and be willing to consider A&M’s
“Alternative Admission Decisions” which are explained on the school’s admissions website.
