what are my chances? please help

I am a senior attending a chicago public highschool.
4.1 gpa weighted
3.2 gpa unweighted
27 Composite ACT
top 15% of my senior class which consists of 980 students

2 years of key club and 1 year of student council.
I do not have much other EC but i do have alot of work experience.
since sophomore year ive been working 25 hours a week on top of
school to support myself.

i applied to LAS for biological sciences(priority)

Honestly, what are my chances?

kinda iffy. you may have to wait it out until regular decisions come out. perhaps good first semester grades will give a boost.

My teachers tell me I’m a shoe in but students keep telling me its iffy lol

I think you will get in, LAS isn’t particularly hard to get into.

Many programs in LAS are very competitive. Biology is one of them. Not sure why Radiums thinks otherwise. You are a slight reach to a reach for biology.

Very competitive? I don’t think so, I met many students in the LAS department were B-level students in their high school. Also note that UIUC have a 67% acceptance rate in Fall 2010.

I base my remarks on facts. Here are the facts. The middle 50% of those admitted to LAS last year had ACT composites ranging from 27-32, and were in the top 14% to the top 3% of their classes. The OP is barely below that range. The hard sciences in LAS are more competitive to get into than most other programs offered by LAS. They attact a lot of pre-med students. Based on those statistics, I stand by my previous post that Midnray is a slight reach to a reach for Biology. I do hope you get accepted, Midnray. Good luck.

the above is true; the physical sciences are usually a bit harder to get into than other departments in las. that said, i know a ton of idiots in my mcb and chem classes who i don’t know how they got in. regardless, you’re act looks a bit iffy, but i say you have a fairly decent shot of getting in. whether its for biology or dgs may depend

I was admitted  thank you guys
