Thanks

Hey.

First of all, the thing I noticed about your SAT is that it’s extremely off-balanced. The 800 math looks great and will impress many colleges, but a 630 and 660 in writing and critical reading will hurt you significanlty.

Fortunately, your ACT score makes up for that. Unless you retake the SAT, I’d just send the ACT score.

Great GPA. What’s your class rank?

What were your AP scores for those 8 AP classes?

Your EC’s look decent, but average.

Vanderbilt, Washington University in St. Louis, and Northwestern are all reaches, but you have a good shot at all of them if you write great essays and have good teacher recommendations.

thanks for your response decrescendo

my school doesnt give class rank but im in top 10 percent

AP US History - 4
AP Physics - 3
im taking other 6 AP’s in upcoming senior year

Wouldn’t not sending an SAT score hurt my chances though?

That should be fine. Just stay in the top 10%.

Not at all. Colleges don’t really care which you send, just whichever one you scored better on. Your ACT score is better than your SAT score, so the SAT score won’t really matter.

Some schools do require that you send all scores, however. But it won’t matter anyways: only your best scores will be considered.

Also, you should be worried about your APs. You got a 4 and a 3 which, although certainly not bad, are not great. 6 AP classes is going to be ridiculously difficult, so be prepared to study like crazy for an entire year. You can’t afford to have a significant grade drop this year; colleges like Northwestern and WashU will monitor your performance and, if your grades drop considerably, you’re in trouble.

As you are now, you’re a solid candidate. If you keep everything up, there’s a good chance that one of the three schools you listed will accept you, maybe more than one if you have great essays and teacher recommendations.

Basically, keep up the good work. :)
