I want to major in business administration or some form of that.
I expect to get into UCSB, UCSC, cal poly, sdsu, usf, sfsu pretty easily.
Cal = far reach. UCSD = within reach.
Should i apply to UCLA/UCI?? i recently decided not to

opinions welcome post up

UCLA and Cal are high reaches. UCSD is a reach. Cal Poly is becoming more competitive, so I wouldn’t use it as a safety.

Thanks for your input. its weird tho 2 of my friends who got accepted to cal poly last year 2010 had no where near my gpa and had sat scores of like 1750-1850 thats why i just think i would get accepted there.

Dreiling, you are right Cal Poly is so so with the exception of Dept of engineering and school of business. If you apply to these two dept, they are on par with top tier 1 UCs,
your scores may not be enough just for these two dept.

hmmm no wonder my friends got accepted one of them had the easiest major at slo and another is failing so she’s switching to a community college next semester haha. which school would you guys recommend better for business with the exception of cal? I really like northern california and the SF area thats why i’m applying to usf and sfsu and i know UCSD does not have a business program. I know ucsc is so-so but its a UC located where I want to be at.

@energyc

For completeness sake, you can add college of architecture and agriculture to the list of top departments at Cal Poly.

CP’s architecture is number 2 or 3 (behind Harvard) in the nation last year. And for agriculture, its also one of the top programs in the nation.

But otherwise you are right, Cal Poly is a strong nerd school.

@Dreiling

For NorCal business, have you thought about Santa Clara university?. USF for business is fair, but it is very expensive for the quality of education it provides.

SAT needs to be better, you will get in anywhere except for maybe UCB, chance me!!
