UC Berkeley - low reach/match
UCLA - low reach/match
Purdue - match
Michigan - low reach/match
CMU - low reach/match
MIT and the Ivies are all reaches for everyone. You’re ECs look great but id work on getting that SAT score up. Have you considered taking the ACT? Might go a little better. Best of luck

Do you need financial aid?

no not applying for financial aid!

guitar kid 49 can u plz tell what is meant by low reach
Didnt hear the term b4
hope u will understand

The only problem you might have is getting into race-blind schools like the UCs. But otherwise your test scores and ECs should get you into most of those schools.

what is meant by low reach?

I think your chances at UCLA, GaTech, Purdue and Michigan are fairly strong. I would advise you to apply to UC San Diego as well. You have decent chances at Carnegie Mellon and Berkeley if you get high (~800) SAT 2 scores and perhaps increase your SAT scores a bit. The ivy league schools and MIT are very unpredictable for everyone, so you shouldn’t have very high hopes for that. You seem to have fairly good extracurriculars, however you do not want them to sound like just a long list. You should also show depth in areas that you are passionate about. That is what appeals to universities - Master of one over Jack of all.

We sort of assign ‘ranks’ to how easily one can gain admission to a particular school. ‘Match’ means your grades/SATs/ECs are within the normal range for that school; ‘reach’ means you have stats that are comparable to the school’s regular pool but not fully equivalent; ‘safety’ means you will without a doubt get admitted.

Adding low or high - just imagine doing a pull up. Adding low means you basically are a bit better off, high means it’s harder for you to get admitted.

To answer you question - ‘low reach’ means you have stats that are within an easier reach of the school, with still a chance of rejection.
