Hi so I did not realize how quickly everything is happening and am anxious to know what schools I am going to get accepted into. Binghamton is one of my top schools and would go there is a heart beat if accepted!! Please tell me what my chances are

gpa - 92.24
All honors and AP's since freshman year. Currently in AP Italian and AP Bio. I've been on student council for 3 years and am currently school treasurer. I am the vice president of National Honor society. I've had a job since freshman year and work about 12 hours a week. I am very involved in school as well as outside of school. I am on a soccer team that is not part of my highschool. I also do over 25 hours of community service a year tutoring kids.My principal wrote be a letter of rec. and my essay is very strong. What hurts me I think are my test scores. I never really took a class or anything.
My SAT is a 1610 and ACT a 27. I really want to get into Bing, but feel like my test scores are going to hurt me. I hear that they are only a component to an application, but it makes me nervous.

Thank you !!

You’re gpa is pretty good…is that weighted or unweighted? As for the test scores, the 27 is much better than the 1610. I would not send the 1610. Binghamton seems to be a bit of a reach, but you still have a chance of getting in. You’re EC’s are great, so that will definitely help you. Good luck with your applications!

Sorry I was really tired when I made that last post…
Its should have said:

it is unweighted ! ugh i should of known and not sent in the sat score !! i applied early i really really want to go there so badly

Are you in-state? If so, you are on the lower end of the spectrum and if I had to guess, I’d say you’ll be deferred. Out of state, slightly better chance, but you’re still low. The 1610 should not have been sent.

Relax: you’ll likely find out in a month or so. Good luck!

I am in-state. Better deferred than rejected all together I guess.

I wish you the best of luck getting into Binghamton. My daughter applied there last year and got in applying early action. She had a 28 ACT 1900 SAT and and a 101 GPA weighted. She got into a lot of her schools but not her top choices including Colgate, which was her number one choice. She did early decision there, then regular decision and then was waitlisted and never got in. She even had a former member of the Colgate board who is also alumni of Colgate call and recommend her on her behalf. Her SAT scores definitely counted against her at a lot of her top choices, including Colgate. However, she did get into Wakeforest, Fordham, Loyola, Providence, Lafayette and got a lot of money at several. But she didn’t know what she wanted to major in (she is undecided at Binghamton) and really really liked Binghamton. I kept asking her “are you sure?” as I didn’t push her there just because the price is awesome. When she did not get into Colgate, she felt that Binghamton was her next choice, which surprised me. I thought she would want to go to one of the private colleges, but she really, really liked it there. She says the people are really really nice and she has made a ton of friends, in spite of being somewhat introverted in HS. But she said the classes are really hard and she has to study a lot to maintain an A average. I wish you luck and am curious if you do get into Colgate as I see your name is “Hopefully Colgate”.
