My recommendations will be very good and my essays will be decent. I will be submitting a french horn supplement where applicable.

you have a good shot everywhere, your weighted gpa is a lil low, but still good shot.

I agree - except MIT and Caltech (where anything can happen) I think everything is probably a sureshot.
You have good scores, good ECs and a good GPA,
so all you need to do is write a great essay and pretty much everything is set.

I agree, but I'd add Stanford to the list to be concerned about.

Why do people always make the statement "besides ______ and _____, you are IN everywhere!"

First off, you totally left out Stanford, which will probably be just as hard to get into for the OP than MIT and Caltech.

Then you neglect the fact that places like Mudd, Pomona, and Cornell are matches not safeties. "sureshot" implies "safety."

Speaking of safeties/matches/reaches, how would you categorize my list?...this would be a big help because I need to start narrowing down my list and I want to keep it somewhat proportional, not too lopsided one way or another.

You will have a big boost being hispanic if your are Mexican or PR. You're a strong candidate at all.

Quick question...After 10th grade I joined an orchestra that conflicted heavily with my school music program and had to chose one or the other. I ended up dropping band at school in order to be in this orchestra. Someone told me that it will look like I dropped band just to take another AP class and that it will look very bad on my application...is this true? Do I need to explain this somewhere on my application?
