What are my chances please

I'm a white junior going to a competitive school in Southern California (we might be top ten or something because of ESLR's...anyone heard of that?)

gpa:as of now 3.0 cummulative
hopefully 3.5 cummulative ( I may get a 4.25 this semester and retake some classes over summer)

class rank: 309/867
hopefully top ten percent

SAT: between 1850-2000

EC's: 2nd degree black belt in tae kwon do (9 years)
Varsity track (11th)
registered lifeguard (getting a job this summer)
40 hours of community service at church (how do you prove you did it?)
baseball, and basketball (9 years not at school but all-stars and whatnot)

AP's: 5-7 by end of senior yr., 1-2 Honors

applying:
Dartmouth
Duke
UPenn
UNC Chapel Hill
UVA
Vanderbilt
University of Florida, Georgia
Emory
Columbia
NYU
West Point
The Citadel

Danke!

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but i think you can forget about the ivies... 309/867 is nowhere near top ten percent, dear.. top ten percent would be 87/867 or above... and something like 85% of people who apply to ivies are in the top ten percent of their class.. and you can imagine what that looks like that only 10% of applicants are accepted...
Do you mean ESLR's as in "Expected Schoolwide Learning Results" ?
your SAT isnt so impressive either, Id start taking a look at other schools. The only ones i see there that you should continue to look at are UF and UGA, and possibly Vandy

309/867 is nowhere near top ten percent, dear..

lol i know but i hopefully WILL be in top ten by application time if my gpa goes up to 3.5 or better.

Hey! i like my SAT score...

My EC's dont help?

I personally reccomend UGA, go Bulldogs!

um i alway say have hope but it doesn't look too good

I know my grades arent that good, but isnt it possible they want another athlete? I know a black belt is pretty rare and would add to the diversity of that school eh?

Black belt is not really that uncommon IMO, maybe its your area. I know several people who are black belts.

If you can get really good at track(place well at state) I'm sure your chances will be alot better, especially at Duke IMO.

The SAT is above average, but its not quite up to ivy caliber yet. Moving up 100+ spots in rank would be a pretty hard feat, but if you can do it, I think it'll up your chances alot.

sorry. but your rank is too low for your college choices. You gpa is low as well. I recommend some safeties.

You really need some safeties!! Dont rely much on what WILL happen, something may come up which may affect your plans

can u give a breakdown of ur sat score by section (projected if they havent been taken)? its kind of hard for those of us used to the old SAT to visualize what that score is like (or at least it is for me ;)).

yeah sure lol i just took the March SAT and ill be sure to post the actual scores when i get em but heres my projected

620-700 m 600-670 cr 630-690 w

big range....probably a little different than wat i posted above.....

I was hoping for a Varsity letter in track....I'm sure there are a lot of black belts but ppl who have actually EARNED it...not so much IMO

have you heard back from any of those schools yet?

a black belt in tae kwon do is pretty common. Every Korean/asian guy has done it in like elementary school. I have black belts in tae kwon do and gundo(art of using swords). I'm sorry but your GPA and SAT are too low. Although you can apply look for some schools that you like have 90% chance of getting into.

I think the ranking and GPA's are quite low to go Ivy League.

yes expected schoolwide learning results

No Stan i havent cuz im only a junior

whats that link miracle??? it sent me to some vip thing???

what link?

wut the he l l i couldve sworn there was a link where u said apply

thanks for the translation.

basically, for nearly all the schools, you NEED to get that GPA to the 3.5 or u dont have a chance, and hopefully youll get on the top end of that projected range.

btw, el commando, you have a spyware program. some spyware insert inks in random words on websites that take you to different sites. run an anti-spyware program.

A breakdown of you:

GPA: I dont think even a 3.5 would help. Maybe if you got a 3.75 Cummulative. Conclusion: (BIG REACH)

Class Rank: it would be nice to be top ten percent or 781/867, Maybe if you moved up 472 spots or half your class. Conclusion : (BIG REACH)

SATs: It would be nice to have atleast a 2000, and your only scoring 2060 if you score your highest on every test. Conclusion : (BIG REACH)

I am looking at all your schools and would name most of them as reaches. Sorry.

btw, el commando, you have a spyware program. some spyware insert inks in random words on websites that take you to different sites. run an anti-spyware program.

I have Norton anti virus so i guess i nd to run that again.

I am looking at all your schools and would name most of them as reaches. Sorry.

How much of a reach is Vanderbilt?
I'm alright with going there although i really like Duke at the moment.

thanks for the translation.

I should be saying thanks to you your the one helping me =)
