I know my SAT scores aren't perfect. standardized tests always get me. But what are my chances? should I do and early decision or action or just common app?

FYI--my daughter got in last year with similar act score. Just a little higher.

She had a good class rank...and similar uw gpa.

She applied early action. Had really good essays. Expressed a lot of interest.

good luck.

ED -- In

EA -- Good chance

RD -- kind of iffy. It's not you, it's them. They accept so many people EA and ED that RD is really competitive. There's no downside to EA, so I would do that. If you are absolutely certain that Elon is "it", then I believe you would almost certainly be admitted ED. However, ED usually results in no merit money, and Elon doesn't have a great reputation for need-based aid either. So you and your parents need to be very honest with yourselves about cost.

My son was admitted ED. I pushed him hard to make sure it was the right decision. Same ACT as you, he had a slightly higher SAT than yours (but not a lot). Your GPA is a good bit higher. You have good EC's, but I worry a little about your lack of volunteer/community service (maybe you just didn't list them). Elon loves service and leadership -- play these up as much as possible (while remaining truthful, of course).

Elon loves to be loved by its students -- which explains why they accept so many ED and EA. They can really sniff out somebody using them as a safety or an afterthought.

For all of the above, I think RD would be a mistake. If you're sure, and the finances are workable, ED is your best bet. If not, you should go EA and I think you will have a very good shot.
