What Are My Chances? - Prospective College Freshman Hoping to Transfer In

I graduated from Flower Mound High School (One of the top public high schools in Texas) with a 3.4 GPA…I understand how low this is, and now I am currently repaying the repercussions. I slacked off in high school and never gave my 100% effort, especially during my senior year. My class rank wasn’t the best, and certainly wasn’t going to be up to par with UT’s standards. However, I’m now a freshmen in college attending North Central Texas Community College, and working part time. My current GPA is a 3.8, and I am determined to get into UT. I am either wanting to transfer into The College of Natural Sciences, or the Liberal Arts College. What are my chances? I need advice from other students wanting to do the same, or students that have already been accepted. I’m wondering if I should include how I completely turned over a new leaf in order to get into this school. I want to include how I changed my study habits, and went above and beyond in my academic grades, however I don’t know if I should add this in my essay if they can see the evidence on how much I have improved?
Any advice/ tips?
Thank you in advance if you answer, I really appreciate it!

After you take 30 hours at your community college, they aren’t even going to look at your high school grades. Like, at all. You might be required to send it to prove you graduated or something, but your college GPA is all they care about. A 3.8 is really good, and should definitely give you a good chance for COLA. I think for CNS, it depends on the major (comp sci is notoriously difficult to get into), but again, that is a strong GPA. Seriously, don’t worry about your high school grades. They do not matter once you’ve attended college for a year.

Just did a quick search in case you feel uneasy taking my word for it. Your high school transcript isn’t even required for admissions app, you just have to submit it before you enroll if you’re accepted.

Thank you so much that helps so much, I was really stressing, but I’ll continue to push for the school. I really appreciate it!

No problem friend, hope to see you in the liberal arts building in future semesters!! hook em
