What are my chances that my internship will turn into something more?

I’m currently a summer intern at a small company, and it is an awesome internship. I love the company, the products I put together, my supervisors, and my coworkers. I really feel that I fit in well here and would like to turn this into something more.

Here are a few more details about the internship:
•It is paid; it doesn’t pay much, but it’s full time and above the minimum wage.

•There are 9 people I assist, and I’ve been trained to produce all products and contact customers. There are usually 1-2 people on staff at a time, and sometimes 3. Some days that is sufficient, while other days it is difficult to manage the work volume that comes in.
•Several of those people have mentioned how much they’ve appreciated my help this summer and I’ve been doing a great job.
•The company is growing.
•Any work beyond this internship has not yet been mentioned, and I have less than a month remaining
•I still have a year of school left, but some flexibility is possible as the office runs 24/7.

What are my chances of getting hired on here? I’ve been unable to find any history with interns and the hiring rate since this company is so small. Also, how do I bring up to my supervisors that I would like to continue there permanently?

Tell your boss “If there is an opening appropriate for my degree in a year, I’d like to apply” and note the reaction.

@vonlost Basically what he said…

Just think of it realistically; would the company be better off paying you a salary appropriate to your degree or would they be better off getting a new intern? The thing with small companies is usually that unless you’re going to “replace” a position, they probably don’t need you, they need an “assistant”.

Just an update, they hired me!

:slight_smile:

@NotSureWhatToPickHere Great Job! I was going to say something along the lines of that 1 month until the end is fairly early for that discussion to full time, but I guess you are just exceptional!

Have fun! I think its more important that you like it there than the pay. :slight_smile:

Another update.

I’m super excited, besides bringing me on for the rest of the school year they are bringing me on full time when I graduate in May! It’s a great place to work and I’m excited to start this new chapter in my life.
