What are my chances to all these colleges....(UC's+)

Hey guys, I'm in a very difficult situation at this moment. I have always thought I've had a good list of colleges to work with but recently it has taken me two weeks to complete the essay set JUST for the UC's. In light of this I'm cutting down my list to only good, competitive schools that I have a good, competitive chance at. Please take a look at my list and give me chances. Also if you could put down some other schools that you think might suit me. Thanks a lot, here's my college list:

UCB
UCLA
UCSD
UCSB

Johns Hopkins
USC
Carnegie Mellon
Northwestern
Boston U.

You will have NO trouble getting into CMU....except if you want Computer Scie...all the other schools at CMU well within your range. Apply to your first choice college hat you are most eager to attend..as the other colleges tend to defer when in second and third place.

How will they know giovinc? And are the other schools at CMU good, as well?

Btw, thanks deffered, but are you sure UCB is 45%? That seems awfully low.

Looking for more opinions.

..........

i think that your chances for berkeley are similar to those of ucla, recently ucla has been as hard or harder to get into than ucb, so i would say that you have a better chance than 45%

..........

bump......

haha i love that.... --my essays won't be "the second coming of the bible"--....i don't know anything about those schools though, so i won't venture an opinion. sorry! i'm sure you'll get in somewhere great though!

good days,

morwen

Thanks, i thought hard for that quote.

bump..

Might want to look at some eastern liberal arts schools like Trinity, Holy Cross, or Colby. A school like Holy Cross likes to recruit good students who are also into athletics.

megathunder:

UCB: Match
UCLA: Match
UCSD: Safe Match
UCSB: Safety

Johns Hopkins: Slight Reach
USC: Match
Carnegie Mellon: Match
Northwestern: Slight Reach
BU: Safe Match

Eh, par, I'm not too into going to a religious school. Any other good ones? Oh, and if you hadn't noticed, I'm also looking more toward med schools. But thanks for the opinions, nonetheless.

Flopsy, even though I'm afraid of over-inflation of my abilities on your part, thanks for the opinions. Is NW really a slight reach? Man.

Anyway, thanks again guys, I'm still open for more opinions..

bump......

MEgathunder..just got back. When you apply to CMU you apply to different colleges within the school..you rank you order of preference on the application and they pretty much tell you which college you got into on the day you receive your acceptance letter. Once there it is much easier to transfer to other colleges if you have maintained GOOD grades. I would give it a shot.

need to choose where YOU would like to live for four years...size of school, location, weather, etc...then need to show why they should take you...visit all these places if you can...do not forget to show them why you love them and why this is the school for you...

who the heck ever knows what anyone's chances are for admission to highly competitive schools...the issue is....what are you top choices realistically and work your butt off to prove to them why you...

Thanks for the opinions.....looking for more chances...

bump......

school ping-pong champion! that is soooo pimp! do you hold the paddle upside down? i won the off-hand regional tournament but got waxed with my good hand.

Offhand and regular hold tournaments? Damn man, you got a pro pp school there. We just have one, "universal", pp tourney.
