What are my chances to get accepted into an MSEE program?

Just received my revised GRE scores.

Got 75th percentile for both Verbal and Math. Not awesome but not crap either (I think?). 3.5 on analytical writing but I heard it's quite irrelevant when it comes to engineering.

Anyway, after graduating with a 3.2 GPA from UT Austin with a BSEE, I worked for 4 years. I'm thinking about applying for grad school but I'm not sure what schools I should apply to based on my scores. All the information out there (avg GRE quantitative scores by accepted applicants) is based on the old GRE so all I can go by are the percentiles.

Based on the info above, do I have a decent chance at getting accepted at a top 50 school? I would have letters of recommendation from previous bosses (some are PEs) and I have also backpacked around the world for a year (maybe something like this could be mentioned to emphasize a well-rounded individual?)

Thank you in advance.

Maybe I should’ve posted in this thread:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/graduate-school/1183200-ask-your-gre-questions-here-how-important-yours-too-low-when-take.html

But I can’t seem to delete this one now so I guess I’ll just leave it here.

Being well-rounded is irrelevant for graduate school.

Do you have research experience as an undergraduate?

No, I don’t have research experience as an undergrad. I did not believe I was going for a Masters or PhD when I was an undergrad so I didn’t pay attention to acquiring research experience.

bump

10 char

I think with a 3.2, no research, and a sub-par GRE Q score, you need to consider a master’s before trying for a PhD, and you may need to look at lower tier schools. You have a lot of ground to make up, in other words. It’s not impossible, I hope (I firmly believe that people can continuously grow and improve themselves), but you are facing an uphill journey.

Thank you for your reply. I may have to retake the GRE if anything.
