school:
My school is dual curriculum. I go to a private Jewish school and also have Jewish studies in my curriculum. I have double the amount of subjects than other schools have. Since i go to a small school with only around 40 people per grade, my school does not offer any AP classes until junior year.

MY English is a B due to a disability in English. I have resource room privileges in my school and time and a half but do not use them. I will explain to the schools that i apply to that it is because of my disability that i got a B in english both years.

Classes that i plan to take next year:
College Writing
AP Physics
AP Calc BC
AP Gov
AP Econ- Micro and Macro

Standardized testing:
I got a 31 on my ACT and plan on taking it to get a 32-33
Section scores-
35 science
31 math
31 reading
27 English

SAT2's
I got a 700 on bio and i plan on taking math 1 and 2 expecting in the 700s

Community service-
Worked with a autistic child for 2 years for 60 hours in total for 2 years
Went to a program in israel where i did community service there and got 75 hours for it
Went on a program in my local community center got 50 hours for that
Did various community service opportunities with my school such as ushering plays
Taught basketball to autistic children in a program

Extracurriculars-
Matheletes- 9,10,12
Hockey- 9, 10, 11, 12
Soccer- 10, 11, 12
Mock Trial- 9, 10, 11, 12
Piano- ever since elementary school. Did Nyssma piano until the highest level
Singing- got into all county choir 9, 10, 11, 12. Did Nyssma until the highest level
Basketball- 12
Plan on getting a job for senior year
Was on chess club in 9th grade

In my hebrew studies my GPA is a 3.4 but most schools do not look at that GPA there might have even been a mistake in calculating that GPA because it was a 3.7 midway through Junior year and my grades did not drop at all. I think that it is a 3.7 and the school just made a mistake in calculating that GPA.

Thank you for reading i know that this is a bit long.

Not sure why you would EA to so many schools, are any of them restrictive EA?

i dont think that any of them are restrictive EA i just did what my college counselor told me to do. He believes in applying early action to most schools. Can anyone give me some insight on what school i can get into?

bump bump bump

“disability” in English when you got a 31 on ACT Reading? Do you have a problem specifically with writing?

My disability is specifically with writing. I cant think on the spot and because of that have a disability with writing. I can read fine.

GPA is kinda low

I dont think that a 3.6 is that low. I have As in most of my classes. English is the only class that brings me down. Schools dont even look at the hebrew GPA. My schools does not even send it for some people. can someone post a list of reach, possibility, and safety for me. When you do that disregard my hebrew gpa because it is not looked at. I will chance back for whoever does this. Thank you

I know that Johns hopkins and carnegie mellon are reaches but it is still worth trying to apply to some reaches. Maybe ill be lucky :)

Applying early will definitely help your chances, but make sure none of them are restricted EA

Reach:
Johns Hopkins - between high reach and reach
Carnegie Mellon
Binghamton - depends on whether or not you’re in ny, if so it’s still a low reach

Low-reach/Match:
U of Rochester (you fall within the middle 50% for ACT scores as of now)
Lehigh (Same with Rochester)
Brandeis (75% of class is in upper decile)
Lafayette (Mean GPA of incoming students is 3.8)

Match:
RPI (Most likely; idk a lot about RPI)
U of Delaware
Northeastern

Hope this helps

Chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1379107-little-help-ivies-more.html

As far as I know, University of Rochester, Brandeis, and Carnegie Mellon aren’t EA. They’re ED schools. Please make sure to check each college’s websites.

I think you got a decent chance at your schools. You have a nice courseload, and grades are decent as well. It would have been better if your GPA was higher though. As for your EC’s, they’re overall not bad but also many of them are very common among high school students.

Good luck!

emotionprelude is right about the fact that not all your schools have an EA option. You may want to make sure it’s not ED, because if it is (as in the case of Carnegie Mellon) then you’re not going to be able to apply to each one early.

oh allright thank you for the heads up. If i am able to get a 33 on my ACT or a 32 does that change my chances at all to get into hopkins?

…if you are not diagnosed with dsygraphia & have an IEP, I would not recommend using the word “disability” to explain a “B”, especially when you haven’t used the extended time offered.

Carnegie Mellon is ED

Yeah, you should def. get into all of them. Except Carnegie Mellon & Johns Hopkins, as that’s a toss-up.

Thank you for your feedback! more would be appreciated~

How does your school do gpa? I have a 3.6 an Im pretty sure I have way more b’s than you do for sure. You transcript looks good and not even close to a 3.6… It looks like youre around maybe a 3.8ish… Otherwise I think you have a good chance at all. My friend got into jh this past year with not as impressive stats.

Its my english that brought me down :(

Have you specifically looked at schools that can help you with your particular learning disability? I might sort schools based on that plus your chosen field of study.
