Sophmore Year was a total failure for me. I do believe that I was depressed during this year because at one point I gained 24 pounds in three months. My Freshmen year was straight As with one B both semesters.

Junior year I picked myself up and worked hard to try to fix my grades. During this year I volunteered at many events like surf city marathon and i volunteered at the local Library for many hours.

The colleges I am looking to get into are UCSD and UCI. I am a Californian Resident.
What are your test scores SAT/ACT? Intended major? Good Upward trend but the C’s and D Sophomore year are going to impact your chances at these competitive schools.
Just based on your GPA alone:
UCI and UCSD are Reach schools. UC’s are very GPA focused so I would target UC Santa Cruz, Riverside and Merced. Also consider some of the Cal states depending upon test scores and intended major such as San Diego State, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach, Cal Poly Pomona, San Jose State, Chico State, San Francisco State and Sac State
aim for atleast 34 on act
since ur focusing on UCs, u shud have amazing essays, great EC’s and awards, lot of community service, a job can help, and a lot of leadership/
ur GPA is super low so u better hope for the best,
if u took summer classes u could have rose ur GPA by getting A’s
IB can help due to course rigor, but UC’s are very GPA focused so getting competitive test scores are important in your application review but little else trumps a solid academic record. You might want to address your Sophomore slump in one of the personal insight essays which could help your chances.
Aim for the 50th percentile or higher for test scores.
