What are my chances to get into Umich

Hello, guys,
I am currently an international freshman in UIUC majoring in Engineering Undeclared, and I plan to apply for transferring to Umich for Fall 2018. I heard that the admission to CoE program is really competitive. Can anyone tell me what are my chances to get into Umich?
Here is my background.

Gender: woman
High School Unweighted GPA: 97/100
Prospective Major: CS
First Semester GPA: 4.0
College Credit Earned: 38 credit hours (and I will have 18 credit hours in Spring 2018)

ACT Score: 32
TOEFL score: 109
AP:
Calculus BC:5
Phys C: 5
Chemistry: 5

Extracurricular:

  1. A VR-related game
  2. Hackerspace (mobile apps development)
  3. STEM Education Outreach Program in Chicago (volunteer)
  4. ACM in VR
  5. I have applied for the CS course assistant for next semester and probably can be admitted

What were your first semester grades? Transfer students generally need a year at the current college before transferring. UIUC is an excellent school, is there some compelling reason to transfer?

I guess it is due to the difficulty to declare CS major at UIUC if not admitted directly into that.

Undeclared engineering students can go into any field at Illinois. All departments hold spots for the around 80 students that are undeclared. Being undeclared at Illinois engineering is actually harder to get into then most of their other programs. This is for students that have excellent stats but just really don’t want to declare yet. It is one of their most competitive programs. It’s not like other schools undeclared program.

Above is the transfer information.

Carolyi… Illinois is very generous with AP credit that you evidently have since you already have 38 credits as a freshman. Michigan is not. Make sure those transfer over. My son lost like over 15 credits going to Michigan. He would of had 33 now after first semester if he went to Illinois… It was a hard decision… Mm

AP credits depends on the subject (and score). We actually know what AP exam to avoid. From the 6 AP my D1 took, she got 33 AP credits at UMich. Michigan also offers partial AP credits to certain subjects in LSA unless you complete the next level course and received a C or above. So it may appear less credits initially.
The said thing at UIUC is the poor financial aid. Nevertheless, it is not likely to get enough merit aid to make up the tuition difference at UMich if OP is from Illinois. If OP is OOS for both schools, UMich may be cheaper after financial aids.

Yes, you are correct and we are still figuring the AP thing out. But my point is at Illinois anything with a 3 and above will get like full credit. At Michigan you needed a 5 for the same credit level. Illinois had a new state ruling last year to except any AP credit from 3 and up… That was my point and I don’t know how or if they transfer per se to Michigan.

I actually is in my second semester at UIUC, that means I just have GPA for only on semester. Do you mean that transfer students are better to stay in the current university for a whole year?

There are some personal reasons I want to transfer, and I will also apply for some other schools at the same time. Declaring CS major is not a difficult thing for our Engineering Undeclared major actually because there are some spots reserved for us.
