What are my chances to get into University of Maryland College Park

I want to go into the computer science major first year

I have a 2140 SAT and 3.7 unweighted HS Gpa

I have 9 APs, and I have plenty of EC activities including two Internships

UMD is my first choice and by far, my best prospect. I am from Washington State by the way so that makes my application more competitive. I am very anxious that I will not get in

UMD: Low match/Match

What’s your problem with University of Washington? Or you already know your chances for that place?

Thanks for the response! I want to get into the major more than anything. I know I can pull off UW but i might not get into CS

What’s your SAT breakdown? UMD does SATs out of 1600 not 2400. Either way, I’m judging from your composite score that your SAT out of 1600 will be pretty high as well (unless your score is carried by the writing section) so that seems to be in the upper percentile for College Park.

GPA is good too. Puts you towards the middle percentile for UMD. I’d say your chances are favorable, especially if your extracurriculars are as good as you say. UMD is looking for more OOS students to flesh out their demographics, so that may work in your favor. The OOS applicant pool is usually a bit more competitive, though.

From the information you’ve provided, I say your chances are good, don’t worry. Best of luck to you!

Thank you for the response nuhgrad!

Luckily, writing is my weakest subject so my score out of 1600 is 1450 (710 math, 740 reading)

Now the GPA is indeed a little bit low but hopefully, my SATs boost my chances at bit
