Hello everybody, I'm very scared because I don't know if I will get accepted. I'm a international student, I'm from Peru. The main reason why I'm very scared is because I want to get scholarships to travel to USA and I want to get recruited for playing soccer, can you tell me if I have chances . Please express your opinions. Thank you.

I have no idea. I don’t know how recruitment works. But to be recruited you need to do well academically, especially if you are looking at high level schools.

thank you for your reply, idk if my video is it good or bad

I watched your video. It looks like you are a good player, but the quality of the video makes it difficult to really know for sure. The beginning of the video shows you during warm-ups and is really not necessary. YOu want to show how the play is developing, so show from the beginning of a play and follow it through- did your play result in a goal or in moving the ball to a good tactical spot?

Soccer recruitment for males in the US is very difficult. YOu have to make sure you are playing in places where Coaches can actually see you play. For the most part, coaches here recruit from very high level tournaments: Dallas Cup, Surf Cup, etc. Few will recruit strictly from a video- the video is intended to get their interest so that they will make the effort to watch you play at a tournament. Since you are in Peru, are there any opportunities for you to be seen by US coaches? You can also attend camps at the schools you are interested in, however, in our experience, coaches have invited the kids they are interested and often pay little attention to the kids who they are not familiar with. My S plays for a D2 school. He made a video and then researched schools that he was interested in academically. From there, he researched the coaches at those schools and started e-mailing them and calling them. He was successful in getting a large number to see him at tournaments and eventually settled on his top 5 choices. It was a long, difficult process and took a lot of time. Probably the most important thing we found was to keep your grades as high as possible. There are coaches that won’t take a second look at you unless you have good grades. He got a number of offers from D3 schools that did not have the budgets to travel to many tournaments, but knew of his team, saw his videos, and were impressed with his grades.

I can’t tell from your post if you have already applied to colleges or if you are a current junior. If you will be applying next year, be sure to look at the post: <a href=“College Recruiting Tips For Soccer - Athletic Recruits - College Confidential Forums”>College Recruiting Tips For Soccer - Athletic Recruits - College Confidential Forums; . KeeperDad did a great job of summarizing the recruiting process- it is geared towards women, but still is a great resource!
