My college list

Harvard (EA)
Yale
UPenn
Brown
Columbia
University of Virginia
University of Michigan
Johns Hopkins
Cornell
MIT

thanks

You aren't being very realistic.

I am being realistic
These grades are my final grade in Junior year
and i actually go to all of those clubs except soup kitchen and volleyball

I'm not going to claim to know everything about college and admissions, because I'm just a high school senior, too. But my opinion?

You seem to be a good student, but I know acceptance rates are lower for international students at American universities, and that's definitely going to be a disadvantage for you.

Your SAT score isn't all that high, and I don't think colleges will particularily care for that stuff you did for just one year.

I think the colleges you're aiming for are going to bring you a lot of disappointment, honestly. Harvard, Yale, and MIT especially. University of Virginia, University of Michigan and Johns Hopkins you probably have a decent shot at.

oh to compensate for my weak verbal score, i took TOEFL recently during my summer

I got 277 and i would like to take it again, but my counselor said it's enough.
i know i am disadvantaged, but except for MIT, the other colleges put me in the same pool as you guys (i.e. Harvard and maybe Yale )
Anyway, would I have a chance to other IVY leage schools other than Harvard, and Yale? I am just applying to Harvard because I like it and i just wanna try and see if i can get in

um yeah, im going to have to agree w/ uvajoe and carandra, you're schools are extremely tough to get into. To get into harvard, you're SAT scores have to be better. Harvard's SAT range is like, V700-790 and M 710-800. you're in there for math but not for verbal. you also need more leadership positions. basically all of your schools are in the reach range, you have to make sure that you have schools in a wide range of difficulty so that next year you'll definately have a school to go to. like carandra said, u def have a good shot at umich jh and uva. but umich and uva are both really good state schools that give priority to instaters.

i really do think that you can get into a very good school, beause there are other factors like essay and teacher recs and ur grades are good. u just might want to reevaluate ur choice of schools.

yes despite the fact that you are an int'l student, harvard isnt going to compensate massively for your 560s in verbal. I remember seeing the stats of a girl from korea also applying harvard and she had a higher verbal stat than me! (shame on me!) hehe unless you have some other massive hook, u need to bring the verbal up!!

That's a great list but you better get a safety or 2 in there. MIT, Harvard and Yale are major reaches, you just don't seem to have that jump off the page stuff to get in there.

I think Penn, Brown, Columbia are also significant reaches. Cornell, UVa (out of state) and Hopkins are still reaches or reach/match as none of them is safe.

Michigan I think you are ok.

When i said "realistic" i was pointing to the fact you are applying to all extreme reaches.
