GO TO CHURCH EVERY WEEK, PLAY BASS GUITAR AT WORSHIP SERVICE. (MY COUNSELLOR SAID THAT MIGHT HELP. REALLY?)

A FRIENDS OF MINE TOLD ME THAT INTERNATIONAL STUDENT HAVE LESS CHANCE THAN U.S RESIDENT IF THEY ARE IN SAME CONDITION (GPA...)
IS THAT TRUE?

THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE IN ADVANCE.

I'd give it a 6 on a scale of 1-10.

i'd give you the same..a 6 out of 10...you should work hard on your essays.

I agree with all of above, although I am not too sure about the international applicant thing. But my thoughts are: California Tax payers/residents will be getting the first priority of entering their state's public institution.

Unfortunately, the major preparation requirements for ucla require that you have two semesters of calc and a statistics course i believe, which you may be taking this semester. Also a semester of foreign language. If you manage to get A's in these three classes (calculus II, statistics, and foreign language) then your average major requirement GPA would be a little under a 3.5. With that said, i think you have a 50/50 chance at getting in if you do so. As ucla, as with other schools, puts heavy weight on the major requirement gpa.

It seems like you have a lot of your gen ed out of the way, thats always a good thing.

highschoolda, aubstopper-- 6/10? wow! not bad! Thanks! I gotta study harder to make my chance greater.

Yams- I think your thought makes sense.

sparkly123-- I'll take calculus II in spring 2007. It's only because I don't think I can get an A in that class. (same reason that I'm not taking Biological science this semester)
I'm taking Micro Econ and Econ Statistics now. (although statistics is not required course for UCLA econ major)

and one more question, do you guys think essays really matter?

they do especially when u don't have the greatest gpa in the world.
