What are my chances? Transfer from WPI to CMU or UVA

Hey,

I'm currently a college freshmen attending WPI, but I'm trying to transfer out of this place to either Carnegie Mellon University, or University of Virginia. I'm really not sure if I have a shot or not. Please someone give me some insight.

My Stats-
Who am I:
I'm a White Male from CT
SATS:
600 Verbal, 660 Math

HS:
3.2 or 3.4 HS GPA bunch of AP courses and junk

College Courses (I've completed half of these already, I'm completeing the rest this semester):
Intro to Program Design - CS1101
Object Oriented Design Concepts-CS 2102
American Drama – EN 2221
Calculus I-IV
Cognitive Psychology -PSY 1401
Intro to Machine Organization and Assembly Language – CS 2011
Systems Programming Concepts – CS 2303
Theater Workshop – EN 2222
Computer Techniques in Music – MU 3611

Major:
-Computer Science

Current College GPA: 3.83
(got A's in everything but a B in my Intro to Programming course)

I got legit recommendations and Essays, I'm not worried about those, as well as extra cirriculars.

Basically I'm banking on my college GPA, but it has only been for one semester so I'm not sure how much they're going to consider that. My SATs are just below or at the %25 I believe for both schools.

My family is also planning on moving to virginia next year, so I figure that might help for UVA if I communicate that to them some how.

Please let me know my odds for CMU or UVA, anything is appreciated, if you need any other info to make a judgement just ask.

-Thanks
elementz

no college gpa? rejected!

sorry it cropped my post for some reason

I think you should get 30-40 units before applying. Your gpa is solid, but OOS competition is fierce, and although your HS and sats are not bad, it might be what keeps you out.

only one response, let me know my shots.

BUMP

last try for some info, BUMP

dude, u should trust my info lol...u can always call the admissions dean....

I don't think Carnegie Mellon will be probable until you've acquired around 2 years worth of college credit to offset your HS GPA. UVA is possible and you've got a pretty tough courseload / good GPA. Give it a shot.

ha ha! Waitlisted at UVA, then accepted. Accepted at Carnegie Mellon! To all of you out there still trying, theres hope! See you in Pittsburgh *****es.
