Hello everyone! I have finished applying to all the colleges and got rejected from most of the universities that I have applied to, and they are Cal Poly SLO, Purdue University, CSU Long Beach, UC Santa Cruz. The only college I got accepted to was San Jose State University and majoring in electrical engineering. I’m not sure if this is a good college for the specified major, but I’m trying to transfer out of SJSU into UC Davis, Cal Poly SLO or any other colleges similar to these colleges. A little story about me: When I was in 3rd grade, I was set into an IEP (individualized education program) because I was stammering while speaking. When I was in this program, I had a speech therapist at school (from 3rd to 10th grade) to improve my speech. I was also given a staff who would always sit next to me in all my classes to help me out, but the staff usually did my classwork rather than actually helping me. This really lowered my self-esteem and I always thought that I was dumb and abnormal, and I didn’t have any friends because they thought I was stupid. In 10th grade, this was the year when my stammer was gone and I was able to talk clearly. From then onwards I always thought that I wasn’t smart. 11th grade was the year when I realized how important education really is and how the economy really runs, and I started working harder, and took ap biology and ap stats in senior year. I ended up getting 4 A’s and 1 B first semester of senior year, getting an A in ap stats, us gov, euro lit, and javascript, and a B in ap bio. This was the time when I knew that I had the potential to be successful and I could work harder to be more successful, and I’m going to push through college next year at SJSU and try my hardest for the first 2 years. My overall highschool gpa came to be 3.2 unweighted and got a 1340 on my SAT. What are the chances that I could potentially transfer out of SJSU after studying for 2 years at college?
Also when I transfer to another college, will colleges see how I did in my high school career or will they only see how I did in college?
If you are targeting the UC’s and CSU’s for transfer, they will look at your academic record at SJSU and not anything you have done in HS. SJSU is a reputable school with a good Engineering department, so you can try to transfer in 2 years but if you are doing well, you may just want to stay and finish your degree. A CSU to CSU transfer will be easier than a CSU to UC transfer since some CSU courses do not articulate well the the comparable UC courses.
Best of luck.
