What are my chances? UCLA, Cornell

Hello everyone.

A while ago I met someone who attended Harvard University. This person completely changed my view point on academics. I released I wanted to start doing better and get into the best college I can possibly get into. I'm only a sophomore in high school and i did TERRIBLE my freshman year. I got a 2.2 GPA first semester, 3.0 GPA second. And first semester of this year I got another 3.0. However I took an ACT plan test to predict how I would do on the real ACT test next year and I got a near perfect score! This semester (second semester of 10th grade) There's a very good chance ill come out with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Next year I signed up for 4 AP classes, which if i got straight A's in, i'd have a 4.5 GPA.
My cumulative GPA if I get a 4.0 this semester would be around a 3.5? So this would make my cumulative GPA around a 4.0? And thats only first semester of my junior year. I've pretty much changed my life style to revolve around school and i study alot! If I were to do good on my standardized tests, get a 4.2+ cumulative GPA, join every club my school has to offer, start 4-5 clubs/become president of some other ones, and start a charity or something of the sort, do you think I'd have a chance at getting into Cornell or ANY top university for that matter? Or was my freshmen year an absolute killer? I'd love to hear any response I can get! I'm a first generation student and I also know colleges like to see an upward trend. What do you think? I don't know a lot about colleges so I'd love to hear from people who do. Please leave your responses below!

Thanks everyone!
