What are my chances? UCLA Engineering

I’m attending Santa Monica College, want to transfer to UCLA as a computer science major for fall 2008. Here’re my stats:

Classes Taken: Grade (*’s indicate class is required for major)

Math:
Precalculus: A
*Calculus 1: A
*Calculus 2: C
*Differential Eq’s: A

Physics:
*Mechanical Physics: B

Computer Science:
Intro to CS: A
C programming: A
*Computer Architecture: A
*C++ Programming: A

English:
*English 1: A
*English 2: A

GE:
Sociology 1: A

So that makes my GPA as of now a 3.68. Here's what I'm taking now (fall 2007):

*E&M Physics: Probably get a B
*wave/optics/thermo Physics: Probably get a B
Art History 1: Probably get an A

So after this semester, my GPA will probably be around a 3.55. Here's what I have to take by the end of spring:

*Calculus 3
*Linear algebra
*Data Structures
*Discrete Structure

I also have a job programming 30+ hours/week. Thanks for your time.

It seems you are match. Last year's average admitted was a 3.66.http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/Tr_Prof07.htm So try maintain that GPA this fall.

At this point, it's inevitable that I'll end up with a 3.55 after this semester. The 3.66 average last year was an unprecedented low, so I don't know what that means for this year's.

What I'm worried about is that I still have to take 5 classes that are required after this semester, and I don't know how they'll see that. I'd appreciate any insight.

*Make that four 4 classes that I still need to take after fall.

hi guys...i was a transfer to UCLA last year..one thing i should tell you that just try as much as you could to get As in this sem and next. because last year's 3.66 is toooo way too low because incoming freshmen sux..so..i think this year's avg would be back to around 3.7-8 again

one of my friends got into ucla as a civil engineering major with a 3.3 gpa
he wasn't tap certified either, but had a job related to engineering

i think you should be fine

At this point, i'm seriously doubting my chances. This semester I got stuck with two ridiculously difficult physics professors (which is what i get for going to SMC), and B's in both classes are inevitable at this point. So after this semester my GPA will drop to a 3.55-ish.

The only chance I have is to take linear algebra and some other blow off class in the winter, and hope the grades are out before the deadline for fall grades so i could feed them my winter grades before they decide. This would put my GPA at around a 3.61. What do ya'll think of this course of action/my chances?

I took linear during the winter, got an A, and updated the application before the deadline (jan 31). That brings my GPA to a 3.6. I'd like to hear anyone's opinion on my chances in light of the huge increase in freshman and transfer applicants.

your good if you finish your pre-reqs i think. cs majors are not on the rise
