What are my Chances - UGA, Clemson, UT Austin, UNC, Tech

State: Georgia (Fulton County)

Gender: Female

Race: Caucasian

ACT: 30 (first attempt with no preparation; looking to get it up at least 3/4 points)

SAT: 1340 (again, no prep, but will probably stick to ACT bc I did better)

GPA: weighted: 4.0 (highest my school’s scale goes) unweighted: around a 3.7 - not completely sure (my grades have also had an upward curve over all my years of high school)

Rigor: APs: completed: World (4) current: Apush, lang, apes senior year: spanish, graphic design, lit, calc ab (total of 8 by graduation) all other classes are honors/dual enrollment

sports: 3 (soon to be 4) year varsity sideline and competition cheerleader. recipient of the “cougar award” recognizing leadership and scholar qualities, the scholar athlete award all my years thus far, and nominated by my coach for the positive athlete of georgia award

extracurriculars: secretary and social media outreach for flood (student volunteer club), internship for Karen Handel (US congresswoman), NSHSS, governors honors program (GHP) nominee in social studies, served several days as a senate page to the Georgia State Senate, section leader and editor for the design of the school newspaper, general member of the folllowing clubs: FCA, suicide prevention, rally for childhood cancer, world language and culture

UGA is my number one (it might help that both my parents, 2 aunts and 2 uncles have gone too), but I am unsure where I stand in terms of getting in there and other schools not listed. Any advice is greatly appreciated- thank you!

For UT Austin, since you’re out of state and have a mediocre standardized test score for the school I would say it’s an academic reach. However, from my experience, UT cares a lot about extracurricular activities and essays (especially those relating to your major), so judging from your current ECs I would say you’re in a great stance if your major was something like political science.
